Christmas is a very special time in the West of Ireland. The villages come to life as people compete to put on a display of Christmas lights and decorations and all of the towns have displays of lights to celebrate the festive period. Pubs and restaurants have some great seasonal food to offer and there is some great music lined up in some of the pubs. There are some great walks to be had to wear off a bit of over indulgence, and the scenery never fails to impress, if the weather is fine there are lots of amazing beaches for a stroll.There are often events and carol services in the area and an early evening visit to the pub on Christmas Eve is a must.
